Smashbox HALO Powder

Smashbox HALO Powder

After a very fun and very long day on set, I am giddy.  Yep, giddy with sheer happy product reviewing excitement!!

Sometimes on a shoot we are asked to do the seemingly impossible, make a client look glowing, yet void of shine.  Huh?  How in the world do you create a glow with a matte finish?!  Well, ladies and gentleman…enter Smashbox HALO powder!

I was lucky enough to try out this powder at the Makeup Show LA.  It is a new anti-aging powder with over 48 minerals, 11 amino acids, and a formulation of pure gold that constantly hydrates the skin.  All this in a powder?  YEP! The clinical studies alone state that after 10 minuets, there is a 33% decrease in wrinkles.  Well, I can attest to the fact that it does not settle into fine lines, gave my clients an awe-inspiring glow and left nothing close to a powdery finish.  My clients had a beautifully flawless looking complexion that lasted throughout the 10 hour shoot. Under hot lights no less!

I was so impressed that I decided to try the product on myself for my dinner date after work.  I glowed, and it had nothing to do with the candlelight dinner.

Makeup Artist Tip:
The best thing about this powder is that it can be used a multiple of ways.

This powder is very sheer, therefore it is wonderful on it’s own for an everyday use, or as a setting powder for your normal foundation.  I suggest applying it with a large duo fiber brush such as MAC 187 Brush.  This brush is designed to give a lightweight application. For a fuller coverage, use the kabuki brush included in the HALO kit.

For nighttime application, I suggest using the powder as a finishing touch to your normal foundation.  This powder will add a soft glow, and extra hydration to any foundation of your choice.  Use the dense kabuki brush included in the HALO kit to buff the powder into the skin in circular motions.
