Holiday Makeup Made Simple

As the holidays swiftly approach and we find ourselves surrounded by an array of social gatherings, it’s easy to have a total meltdown, wondering how you’ll ever get that gorgeous holiday glow! Well fear not, getting your holiday glow on is easier than you think, and I can get you there with a little help from a few of my favorite products.

Lips:
When it comes to holiday glam, red lips are always a sure bet. Red lips not only signify beauty and style, they are the easiest way to add class to any look. For lips that enchant, try NARS Audacious lipstick in the shade, “Lana”. One word of advice for red lip lovers, keep everything else to a minimal. With lips this bright, both eye and cheek makeup should be applied with a light hand, so keep the other areas a bit on the neutral side.

Eyes:
Much like the holidays themselves, holiday eyes are all about the sparkle! To create eyes that truly pop, apply Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow in the shade, “MoonSpoon”. This sparkly shade has enough pop to allow your eyes to be the focal point of the party without being too glittery. Apply to lids and under the eyes, and then follow with several coats of black mascara.

Cheeks:
Cheeks are another way to simplify holiday glam. The look of a beautifully flushed cheek is often more than enough to dress up any face for a holiday party. For cheeks that look perfectly flushed, try M.A.C. Casual Colour in the shade, “Baby Pink”. Start near the apples of the cheeks, and sweep upward toward the temple. Remember, much like the red lip, the class of a fully flushed cheek can be ruined if other features are too heavy, so stick to a light colored gloss for lips, and neutral eye makeup.

Glowing Skin:
Nothing is sexier for the holidays than skin that looks as if it’s lit from within. While some of us were blessed with perfect skin, the rest of us are blessed enough to have a good highlighter on hand to fake it! Benefit’s Watt’s Up highlighter is one of my absolute favorites. It’s not quite as thick and glittery as some other cream highlighters, and even comes with a small sponge for blending. For gorgeous skin, lightly dot highlighter on cheekbones, down the bridge of the nose, the inner corners of the eyes, and just above the brow bones. Then just blend with a sponge or fingertips and voila, a perfect holiday look!

So the next time you’re invited to a holiday get together, don’t shy away. Instead grab your favorite party dress, pick your beauty focal point, and R.S.V.P. YES!
